Tours in Lower Austria
Wachau, Wine & Cuisine
Discover some of the most beautiful regions of Lower Austria with me! The Weinviertel is characterised by rolling hills, rustic cellar lanes and charming small towns. In the Marchfeld, considered Austria’s granary, you can find noble chateaus and sites full of history. Experience romance, history and wine along the stream of the Danube in the Wachau, Dürnstein, Spitz or Melk. Learn more about age-old monastery tradition, charming spa towns and a fateful place for the Monarchy in the Vienna Woods. Half- and full day tours available per bus or minivan.
Weinviertel
As a certified cellar lane guide, I am pleased to present to you the most scenic cellar lanes of the country. Try fine wines and enjoy local delicacies. The Weinviertel is the largest wine region in Austria. In the western part of the area lies the wonderful small town of Retz, which appeals with an underground cellar labyrinth, the Schrattenthal castle, and the Maltese commandry Mailberg. In the east, you will find Poysdorf, the metropolis of sparkling wine, as well as the castle ruins Falkenstein and Staatz and the Liechtenstein-castle Wilfersdorf.
Marchfeld
Baroque treasures such as the castles Schloss Hof, Schloss Niederweiden and Schloss Eckartsau are waiting for your visit. Schloss Hof, the former hunting residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy, captivates you not only with its lovingly renovated staterooms – the baroque terraced gardens and the manor farm with heritage breeds will amaze you just as well! Schloss Eckartsau is located in the Danube National Park and became a fateful place for the Austrian royal family, as they celebrated their last Christmas on Austrian soil there.
Wine & Cuisine
Lower Austria is a paradise for fans of wine and great food. Wine, apricots, pumpkins, potatoes, hemp and chocolate are just a few of many delicacies of the area. For you, I happily organise wine tastings at selected wineries or tours and tastings at production sites of other excellent local products.
Vienna Woods
Just a couple of kilometres from Vienna, the idyllic Vienna Woods welcome you. I am delighted to show you Cistercian seminary Heiligenkreuz, which amazes visitors with its Romanesque and gothic architecture. Come and visit Mayerling, the former hunting lodge of Crown Prince Rudolf, and explore the tranquil Helenental and the elegant spa town Baden.
Wachau
A UNESCO world heritage site and great wines are waiting for you. Marvel at the baroque monastery of the Benedictine seminary Melk or enjoy the view at the Wachau from the hill of the Göttweig seminary, which is also known as the “Montecassino” of Austria. I invite you to stroll through the scenic villages of Dürnstein, Krems, Stein, or Spitz an der Donau, which are just a few of the many notable places in this region. A ship ride on the Danube tops off the tour.
